My 9 day old baby

i do not understand the mentality of “make the baby adhere to the schedule that i have set” that seems to be so prevalent here in the south. it causes SO much unnecessary stress when the baby inevitably either fails to thrive because you want to block schedule feedings or doesn’t want to nap when you have deemed it nap time.

Pre-Pregnancy Weight: 88lbs

One Week Postpartum: 138lbs (-20lbs)
Activity: Just breastfeeding and healthy eating right now. Oh and giving birth, that’s a big one. :p

Sophie is a week old today
And I’m finding that hard to believe.
So far she has a very calm temperment. She doesn’t really cry, she just fusses a little when she wants or needs something. At this point she mostly just sleeps (with breaks to nurse, pee, and poop), she will wake up to look around every now and then but this wears her out pretty quick and she goes right back to sleep.

Sophie's Birth Story (a summary)
Induced at 41 weeks + 5 days.
29 hours of labor + 2 hours pushing.
No epidural, no pain medication.
When it came to pushing I had a small cheer leading squad of two nurses, the doctor, and Kyle. It actually really helped because we’d gotten stuck for a little bit.
Only two small tears, no stitches.
Immediate skin to skin.
Lots of declarations of love.
Kyle was able to cut the cord.

Coming home.
We were released around 4:30pm on 5/10/13.
Her coming home weight is 6lbs 15oz.
We have a weight check on Monday at 8am.
Kyle works tonight and that makes us all sad.
Postpartum is going pretty easy on me.
I think my milk is starting to come in.
My bleeding has mostly stopped already.
I’m really sore and exhausted but I don’t think I’ve ever been this happy with life.

Tomorrow I will be a mommy.
We go in at 6 tonight because the doctor wants to see if he can get anything started without full on inducing me. If nothing comes of that he wants to start a Pitocin drip at 5 in the morning. Babybabybaby.

Today has gone so slow...
And knowing that I will be induced tomorrow (unless the doctor decides to reschedule last minute at my appointment) is why. This pregnancy has mostly gone pretty fast but lately it’s just been dragging on.
