Things to accomplish tonight:
Or try to, anyway. Even a simple list can be hard to stick to when you’ve got a newborn because meeting their needs takes top priority. Do dishes - put dishes away. Do laundry - put that away too. Clean up the living room area. Catch up on The Vampire Diaries. Remake my ‘fandom’ blog. Sleep. Sleep should be on this list… but it’s also probably what’s most...

My 9 day old baby
just rolled over from her back to her belly then got extremely pissed off when she couldn’t get back on her back because the wall of her co-sleeper was in the way. :’( Stahp it, your cord stump hasn’t even fallen out yet, Sophie. Give yourself more time to grow,

We gave Sophie a pacifier on the ride home from...
She took it for a little bit and then pulled it right out of her mouth. Since then she’s refused it every time. A lot of the times when she wants to nurse it’s just for comfort and I don’t mind it at all, I love the bonding experience… but it’s a little rough today because the only thing she wants to do is nurse… she’ll fall asleep and if I attempt to put...

ihaveakidandalsoavagina: i do not understand the mentality of “make the baby adhere to the schedule that i have set” that seems to be so prevalent here in the south. it causes SO much unnecessary stress when the baby inevitably either fails to thrive because you want to block schedule feedings or doesn’t want to nap when you have deemed it nap time. babies are not meant to be scheduled. yes...

Sophie was trying to roll over and getting really mad because she couldn’t do it…five seconds later she fell fast asleep. Life’s tough.

Sophie is a week old today
And I’m finding that hard to believe. So far she has a very calm temperment. She doesn’t really cry, she just fusses a little when she wants or needs something. At this point she mostly just sleeps (with breaks to nurse, pee, and poop), she will wake up to look around every now and then but this wears her out pretty quick and she goes right back to sleep. We co-slept for the first...

Postpartum TMI of sorts.
ahoyroo: I tore front & was cut back to prevent a 3rd degree tear (aka big black hole) thanks to Naminé having her fist against her forehead during delivery. I burned SO BAD I could cry each time. The best relief? A squirt bottle filled with cool or warm water. Right before you start peeing, start squeezing and keep going until after you’ve stopped. My burning lasted about a week or so, and...

Postpartum TMI of sorts.
Peeing has became a huge ordeal for me. I tore forward and oh man it burns so bad. I actually have to talk myself up to going before I just get it done and over with. I didn’t have this problem at all when I was in the hospital it’s only started happening the day after we got home. It’s starting to get better, or maybe I’m just getting used to it, but it’s still...

Sophie's Birth Story (a summary)
Induced at 41 weeks + 5 days. 29 hours of labor + 2 hours pushing. No epidural, no pain medication. When it came to pushing I had a small cheer leading squad of two nurses, the doctor, and Kyle. It actually really helped because we’d gotten stuck for a little bit. Only two small tears, no stitches. Immediate skin to skin. Lots of declarations of love. Kyle was able to cut the cord. ...

Stuff (and things).
At 5 days old Sophie is 4oz away from being back to her birth weight, we’re pretty proud of the amount she gained in the few days she’s been home. She slept through her whole appointment and probably didn’t realize we’d even left the house, she woke up a little bit to nurse when we got home but is now sleeping away on my lap. She must of wore herself out waking up every...

Coming home.
We were released around 4:30pm on 5/10/13. Her coming home weight is 6lbs 15oz.  We have a weight check on Monday at 8am. Kyle works tonight and that makes us all sad.  Postpartum is going pretty easy on me. I think my milk is starting to come in. My bleeding has mostly stopped already. I’m really sore and exhausted but I don’t think I’ve ever been this happy with life.

I'm going to type of a birth story
but Sophie’s been comfort nursing for most of the day so I haven’t had an opportunity to sit down and do that just yet… so that will just have to happen when things have calmed down a little on our end. c: But! I’ve been pleasantly surprised with just how well she latches on and nurses. It was the second thing she did (after crying) when the doctor laid her on me. I...

Tomorrow I will be a mommy.
We go in at 6 tonight because the doctor wants to see if he can get anything started without full on inducing me. If nothing comes of that he wants to start a Pitocin drip at 5 in the morning. Babybabybaby.

Tonight's To-Do List
Make sure the camera battery is fully charged and that the tablet is at least plugged in. Do some of Kyle’s laundry so that he has clothes for the hospital stay. Tidy up the apartment a little bit more. Shower and attempt to shave. Waste/pass time with TERA: Rising.

Today has gone so slow...
And knowing that I will be induced tomorrow (unless the doctor decides to reschedule last minute at my appointment) is why. This pregnancy has mostly gone pretty fast but lately it’s just been dragging on. I’ve kind of avoided doing any research on induction up until this time because I was hoping that the Procardia hadn’t messed with me too badly and I’d go on my own. Now...
